I know the real name of this beautiful watch is “Slim Classique”, but as I am feel much comfortable with English, I could like to call it Classic Slim. Put aside the name issue, the watch is absolutely a beauty that few people could say negative words before.

The Ralph Lauren Classic Slim watch is comes with three sizes and is available 18k white gold and rose gold. The bezel has diamonds version as well. Ariel Adams, the owner of the very famous luxury watch blog-ablogtoread.com, has purchased a 42mm rose gold version which looks so damn beautiful on his wrist. What I could say, It sparkles when an exquisite touch meets a raw masculine.And with the impressive demonstration of this guy, I am sure that the Classic Slim is going to be my favorite watch offering from Ralph Lauren

The watch is just a around 5mm at thickness, and it houses a custom made hand-wound mechanical movement from Piaget watches. The movement, just 2.1mm thick, stores 40-hour power reserve.

The dial is is simple yet exquisite, and very easy to read as well. Two hands of  Breguet watches style and classic Roman numerals are responsible for time display. The bezel nicely sets off the dial design with retro guilloche pattern.

And this slim watch is fitted with thin alligator leather strap featuring shiny texture. In my personally opinion, men can go for larger size, and women can choose medium or small size.

To my knowledge, Classic Slim is the brainchild of  Ralph Lauren and Richemont. And Ralph Lauren contributed a lot in the design. What is more, it carried on the brand’s refinement and extension of the watch brand

If you are a watch lover, you may have noticed that vintage watches from different brands look quite similar. Two my knowledge, nearly 90% of the vintage watch offerings in last decades of 20th century  showed  no big characters. Except some tiny differences in details, they were basically the same. Actually, each brand could be special if they put effort in creative designs as the past decade indicated. Unfortunately, the fashion of retro has brought the problem of lots of similar watches with traditional styles. Honestly, traditional styles are classic and elegant, but the problem is that when many brands have them, you will definitely feel boring.

As known to the watch industry, Zenith has had very tough times, and their new CEO Jean-Frederic Dufour made many promises that he failed to fulfill. And now,  it seems that Zenith’s return to its roots does not work well either. I can not figure out why it has to be like what it is today?

Recently, Zenith excitedly released the Elite 681 Ultra-Thin watch. But as Zenith borrows too much from other brands that make retro ultra thin watches, this new offering does not look as exciting as I’d expected-It is lack of its own characters though it looks fine and elegant. Again, Zenith fails to create its new identity given the fact that this watch feels so similar to Vacheron Constantin watches offerings of retro touch . The case is 40mm wide and 3.8mm thick and houses an automatic movement.

I feel very disappointed due to high expectation from this brands. Anyway, I will keep an eye on their following new watch offerings this year.

Like many people on this planet, I appreciate the exceptional art style of Van Cleef & Arpels a lot. The dials have stained glass plate and feature colorful hummingbirds images. Not a few precious gems are applied to make the dials more splendid. These watches also share same movement- Caliber 830P mechanical movement as the butterfly watches

They are absolutely breathtaking creatures that you would have expected from this respectable brand. Now I really wish I had enough money to own one of these pieces.

I have never expected such an edgy timepiece from this brand. But I do like it. It even takes my breath away at first sight with something really special.

Not like other Cartier watches, the silver dial, protected by a sapphire crystal, does not focus on the time display. The diamond-set hour markers that form an sunburst pattern become the real leading role of the dial. Also impressive is the upper lug that occupies the most significant position at the top. And thank Godness, Cartier has managed to hold things together and make the face of the watch deserves the name “Captive”.
